Richard Norbruis

Richard’s practice is largely focused on transactions, often with cross border aspects. This includes M&A, private equity or venture capital transactions, private placements, management participations, joint ventures, reorganizations, commercial contracts and financings.

He also represents clients in disputes that may be the result of transactions, such as claims made under acquisition agreements, shareholder disputes and other corporate law related issues and proceedings.

Previously, Richard was a partner at NautaDutilh for 9 years, a partner with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer for 15 years, and a partner with Ernst & Young for 4 years.

He has broad international experience, having lived and worked as a lawyer for many years in New York City. His command of English and German is excellent.

Richard was a member of the core global management team of Freshfields for several years (2011-2014), and of the core global management team of EY Law, the legal services division of Ernst & Young (2014-2018).

Currently, Richard is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. (‘Besi’), a leading semiconductor assembly equipment supplier listed in the AEX index of Euronext Amsterdam.
